Nowadays, there are some cultures in which children are frequently encouraged that they can achieve anything if only they strive for it. But what are the pros and cons of informing them this information.

First of all, on a societal level, it’s beneficial for all of our people to inspire our next generations to try whatever they want to do, because children represent the future of our world. If there will be any improvement of our world in the future, it must be the results of these children’s efforts. Although most of them will fail, the success of small part of them tends to change the whole world. This has always been the case in our human history. In fact, most of great scientists such as Newton, Einstein and Galileo are always curious about the world around them throughout their lives. If Newton’s parents restricted his freedom of exploring the world or weren’t able to let him explore freely when he was a child, there will be no possibility for him to wonder why all objects keep falling down from the higher places when he saw an apple fall from a tree.

Of course, there is always a price to everything. Thus when we encourage our children to try everything they want to achieve, as their parents or elder, we must pay the necessary price for them such as money, energy and time. Beyond this, there is still another risk that they may try some dangerous things such as drug, sex and crime.

But to sum up, although there may still be some valid arguments to the contrary, I personally believe that the advantages of this information can outweigh the disadvantages of it.
